On a Sunday I often go to our local "trash and treasure" style market, located close by in Camberwell.
Today I found a 'J' stamp for stamping metal. I do already have a full alphabet set of letters for stamping on to metal...but they are only about 4mm in height, from memory.
This letter is 12mm, so I decided to risk it. I say risk it.......as I was a little unsure if the letter was actually going to be a good, clear imprint.
I raced home to give it a try.....stamped it on some (unannealed) copper.........probably could have got a better result on the softer metal.
Anyway, further play will probably tell me it is o.k....but possibly not fantastic!
Metal 'J' stamp
A quick stamp on copper shows me the curve is a little thin! What happened to the J's "hat?"
Old bottles at the market....Orangeade and Sarsparilla.
Today I am linking up to Lori's I Heart macro at Studio Waterstone.
Check it out for photos of a macro nature...it's for "up Close Photography for Macro Makers and the Cameralogically Challenged!"
Cheers for now,

There's nothing like hitting a market and finding stuff, is there? Love your finds! Those bottles are fantastic :)
ReplyDeleteYou made me smile with the "Sasparilla" bottle, my father-in-law always called soda that! I love the old flea markets too. You just never know what you will find. Love the pics.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is scouring the flea markets.
ReplyDeleteI like the stamp just because it's old and those bottles are pretty neat also.

I hate that the stamp isn't working out for you so well. However, those pictures are just stunning! I adore your picture of the stamp itself! Very cool!!
ReplyDeleteI love the macro of the metal "J"stamp. You could stamp to J's upside down with the tips of the hooks touching and make a heart! ♡ :) Oh, and those old bottles are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLove the macros - those are really cool!! The J stamp is my fav!!
ReplyDeleteLove your macros! Great idea!! Love them all.
ReplyDeleteI have been to the Camberwell Markets a few times. I grew up & lived in Melbourne for 24 years(Mornington Peninsula for most of it). I still consider myself a Melbournite (haven't lived in Brisbane as long as I did in Melbourne (yet)! Most of my large family still live down there. My oldest brother has had a stall at the markets every Sunday selling plants!!
