As you will have read previously, I am participating in the Fairytale/Spring bead challenge organised by
Lori Anderson.
My swap partner is Erin Prais-Hintz from Treasures Found.
You can see pictures of the lovely jewelry components she sent me here.
I have (loosely) based my necklace on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm - "The Frog Prince".
The gist of the tale is that a Princess took a walk in the woods, sitting down to rest beside a pool. A golden ball she had been playing with rolled to the ground and into the pool. A frog appeared asking the princess why she was so upset...
"Whilst she was speaking, a frog put its head out of the water, and said, 'Princess, why do you weep so bitterly?' 'Alas!' said she, 'what can you do for me, you nasty frog? My golden ball has fallen into the spring.' The frog said, 'I want not your pearls, and jewels, and fine clothes; but if you will love me, and let me live with you and eat from off your golden plate, and sleep upon your bed, I will bring you your ball again." ......
Of course she was a little scared, did not like the suggestion (well we are talking frogs here!)
More than your average leap of faith was required.....!
"Leap Frog" necklace.
Can you see the little jade frog, pearls and golden ball?
Can you see the little jade frog, pearls and golden ball?
Also fluorite, crystals and lucite flower.
Take a LEAP, simple truth pendant by Erin.
Ceramic focal by Lisa Peters, green goldstone. (looks so black here!)
Sweet little vintaj butterfly, smokey quartz nuggets, faceted green goldstone.
Most people would agree that fairy tales are for children.. I personally think we make our own luck and future.
However often a LEAP of faith is required to initiate a change, it can be a little scary, more often than not there will be rewards to come, if not straight away, then down the track...
I am slowly making that leap ( more like a small hop)......!

Lovely story and wonderful looking necklace, great to see the finished product so well presented.
Thank you Nadege.I was sorely disappointed with my photos, felt they were too cold looking... should have not been so lazy and taken a trip to photoshop! Oh well!
Jenni
I love how your lovely necklace and story are intertwined. Great job.
Lovely design and great beads! Very fun! There is also a modern fairy tale story called The Frog Princess, by E D Baker. They are a wonderful series of stories and go perfectly with this design!
I love this. The frog and Erin's Leap pendant! Perfection! I love the story that accompanies.
Wow Jenni! That is not only a beautifully designed necklace, but I just love the thought that went into it. I didn't think that you would use the LEAP pendant I sent with this but I am so glad you did (would you post this to my Simple Truths Flickr group?). That really brings the fairy tale full circle for me. Taking pictures is tricky. I have one mega powered light source, always on macro, and then all I really do in Picasa is hit the auto correct most times. I do love the way you styled the photo on the pages of a story. Very fairy tale indeed! I am delighted to call you friend, Jenni. I am so glad that we were paired together.
Enjoy the day!
Erin
P.S. Do you know who made the lampwork beads you sent me? I realized at 1am this morning when I wrote that that I didn't know. If you do know, I will update my post with a link.
I love your Leap of Faith Necklace, and your story too!
wow! Really incredible! I agree about making your own luck by making leap - good luck :-)
I love that purple flower accent at the pendant! And I love the story you told and the many different bits of the necklace -- they all work together and it's amazing!
Gorgeous work. Love the wire color with your magical little bits and the frog story. Enchanting! I think adults need fairy tales too. Sometimes life is a little too intense and we need a new dream.
A beautiful necklace!
Fairytale and necklace are perfect! I love the smokey quartz nuggets, so mysterious.
Thank you to everyone who has so kindly left comments. I appreciate your support and have thoroughly enjoyed visiting each blog to see everyones very different works of art.

Wonderful story and a great necklace to go with it. It is hard to take that leap of faith but so worth it in the end.
Wow Jenni! You did such a wonderful job! A beautiful "Leap of Faith"!
Jenni - what a beautiful necklace made from a great group of beads from Erin! It's really neat to see one of her Simple Truths pieces in use....and with a great sentiment. I think I'm a bit like you, taking small hops rather than big leaps, but hopefully they're steps in the right direction!
Hello Dana, Sally and Cindy. Thank you so much for visiting and your sweet comments. I just love the blogging community, such a wonderful supportive group of friends..

I love this design - brilliant job :)
Breathtaking...I love the color scheme in this piece. Definitly not what you would expect from a fairy tale piece...truly wonderful!
what a cute story and the piece you created to go with it!

What a beautiful necklace! I love all the thought that went into it. :) I agree, that most people do think fairy tales are for children, and that would be true about many we know of now, that have been "Disney'fied"... however, some originate from much darker stories! Much of the original Brothers Grimm were quite dark, dramatic and scary.
Absolutely gorgeous! I love the 'leap' charm. You've really captured the story in this piece.
Mysterious, elegant and magic. Beautiful necklace!
Thank you everyone who has visited and commented on my Fairy tale/Spring necklace - Leap Frog. I have loved hearing from you and so thoroughly enjoyed looking at everyones wonderful and such varied pieces. Roll on the next one...!
Jenni
It's gorgeous - and love the LEAP pendant! What a great necklace!
Oh so sweet! One of my favorite saying is "Leap and the net will appear!" ... because I am sooo not a leaper! It reminds me to loosen up. : )
